Mortgage company saying the wife can’t be vested on title

We are three days away from closing (obviously won’t be closing on time) and I just got word that I, as the buyers agent and one of the buyers can’t be on the title if we wanted to get the loan through Wells Fargo. My husband and I were suppose to take title together and the mortgage would have been under my husband. I, as the agent and one of the buyers and the wIfe, would have been on the title. Wells Fargo is saying because it’s a duplex that it’s too much risk if I am vested on the title. Has anyone been through this before ?

I think the bank is on hallucinogenic drugs. It's been a while since I looked it up, but I'm nearly certain spouses are excluded from that (DoS when adding a spouse to title). And when I did look this up, it wasn't a mortgage guideline I found, it was a federal law.

Granted, Wells Fargo often has a hard time understanding that they can't just make up laws and do what they want all willy nilly like they run the world, which is exactly why they get fined all the time. :P

@Jenifer Levini, is bank on hallucinogenic drugs, or am I?
