Can anyone refer a newbie to a Private Money Lender?

I am new to investing and looking for a private money lender. Can anyone recommend someone either in Western New York or North Carolina areas?

Hey Karen - go onto the marketplace, add a filter for private money lender and filter by your region. 

Then check the posts for who is offering finance and see how reputable their profile looks (number of posts/votes, whether they have any recommendations or referrals etc)
