Inter-Industry Real Estate Investing

Team,

does anyone look at other industries (tech, healthcare, energy, etc.) when deciding where to invest next?  I work in the energy industry for my day job and there is speculation on where the next "hot spot" will be for that industry.  The speculation is beyond "hey, company X is opening a new store front 3 blocks down" but rather, it is based on industry market trends and commodity price predictions.

Is anyone else looking at these trends and of what industry are they aware?
