This sounds ridiculous but we got quoted 25k for a new roof... 1900 square feet... does this sound correct?

what are the prices for a new roof?

FYI "a square" is 100 sq.ft. of roof area. That's the customary unit for roofing.

$1300 a square sure seems outrageous. Last one I did was in rural MO, small house but a steep (roughly 1:1 pitch) roof and large porches front and back. And needed quite a bit of decking work. A bit under $300 a square.

As always, multiple bids are essential.
