Has anyone been sued for lead paint because of tenants complaining?

If so what happened?

Steve Babiak I almost bought a house from that guy. I see his name on the tax sale list too.

Chris Barnes To answer your question yes many in Baltimore have been sued recently even for grandchildren of tenants that didn't even live with the grandparents. The claim was they visited regularly. There have been lawsuits with million dollar+ verdicts.

Lead paint is a serious issue. There are lots of Federal laws that apply if you have subsidized housing (Think sec 8). If you haven't followed the formalities, you could be subject to heavy fines and you've given a plaintiffs attorney ammo to go after you.

I hope your friend gave the tenant the fed. lead disclosure form and the "Protect Your Family From Lead in Your Home" booklet.

Lead paint is a BIG issue in Baltimore. Children living in your house have until they are 21 to sue you. Some horrible court cases have happened here that caused outrageous Precedents to be set.

God luck to you and your friend - Ned
