Hello to all BiggerPockets community members To get right to my inquiry I am in contact with a pontential tenet who farther passed and left refinance mortgage that family cannot afford to pay. The house is due for auction oct of 2018. Is their anyway I can step in the process and acquire property possibly working out a scenario where family can stay in property and I hold the mortgage with fair terms. I thank you in advance for all advice aswell as criticism. Ps property is located in Jamaica Queens ny and is single family. My main inquiry is on the process and is it possible.

You can contact the bank and see if a short sale is an option. In the state of NJ foreclosure process is stopped in a sense. I agree with Ned no matter what you will be the bad guy if something goes south with the owners.
