People are fleeing their Home State, are you?

Inspired by the recent "leaving CA" post, I wanted to get a general idea of where people live and where they plan on moving (if anywhere), and why. Hopefully this will help BP members get a broad sense of in and out migration in the U.S.

  • What state do you live in?
  • Have you lived in this state in the past 5 years?
  • If so, where?
  • Will you be staying or leaving?
  • Why?
  • What is your full time income producing job?

We have lived in Wisconsin for 3 years, after having lived in Illinois for just over 30 years. For multiple reasons, we joined the exodus of people leaving Illinois.

We plan to stay in Wisconsin at least for the next 2 to 5 years. Two of our children moved west (San Francisco, Denver), a third lives in Milwaukee, and the youngest is finishing his degree and will likely move west when he graduates. Family in the midwest (elderly parents) are likely to give us reason to stay here for the time being. Maybe we'll look west when the time is more appropriate

I'm shifting away from business consulting and professional communications and into real estate investment as a full-time occupation.
