Creating a YouTube presence

Hey BP, I'm curious to see what works and what doesn't when putting together a quick film... I already have a format in mind. Brief overview(20 sec)-intro(10 sec)-topic (1/2 min)-closing sequence(10 sec). I've never made a youtube video before, but I want to start trying to get some material out... Any advice on tone/ length/ content/ necessary tech /any tips would be greatly appreciated. My instincts tell me to make it informal and somewhat entertaining to attract viewers and entertain.

I'm not a YouTube expert but am considering making for advertising / informational videos. It's one of my goals this year.

A nice intro / outro, keep it short, provide something of value. I can't stand the videos that are 15 minutes long to provide 30 seconds of information and the rest is a bunch of fluff. Some people think far too highly of themselves!
