Renting Owner Occupied Property?

Hi BP,

I recently purchased a duplex on a conventional (OO) loan with the intent to house hack it when my current living situation/lease expired.

That being said, I was curious how soon I can move of the duplex and rent out the entire duplex (additional unit) w/ out committing or breaking any sort of rules. I have been told many different things on the matter, the article linked below does a good job explaining the sort of situation I am in.

I will be accepting a new job position that is quite far away from my duplex, hence my questioning/reasoning for wanting to move out of the house hack for now.

Any explanation or help is appreciated.

Thanks
