Future Investor Looks for opportunities

I am currently 18 years old i don't have any skin in the real estate world i live in a small town in northern Pennsylvania most of the local investors are residential investors .cap rates aren't strong though there's a lot of opportunities in residential i am interested in multi family to look for better Opportunities and Relationships. I am considering moving to a city (Houston,Miami) to afford living in a city i am also considering becoming a software Engineer but time is money if i become a Engineer will i have time to accomplish my main goal( Real Estate ) Any realist advices Should i move! Should i choose this career to invest later on! What would any one in same situation do.
