How Partnering Up Accelerated Our REI Business

Is paralysis by analysis holding you back?  Are you pumped about Real Estate investing, but are too scared to jump in?

Find a partner.  Not completely necessary, but for some of us it works.

My business partner @Mary Derman and I connected in August.  Mary is investor friendly realtor who invests herself so I knew "she got it".  When we first met, Mary was representing me as my agent, scanning the market for deals that met my criteria.

We quickly figured out that we had synergy and made a great duo.  As Mary and I were both wrapping up two of our own fix and flips, we decided to become partners as we moved our businesses forward.

We made our goal to acquire 3 - 4 deals by the end of December - we hit 3 fix and flip deals by year's end.  We have started the new year with acquiring 3 more fix and flip deals that will all be bought in February.  Our six fix and flips deals to start 2017 are spread out in different communities in Chicagoland.

We have improved every area of our business by chatting over Sunday goal setting calls and holding each other accountable throughout the week. Mary encouraged me to get my real estate license so we could continue to work together in every aspect of our real estate business. We have now expanded our business together to JV deals with other investors, listing properties (clients get two agents for the price of one!) and selling turnkey real estate investments which we offer property management.

We could never do all of this alone, but together we are strong, organized and rely on our systems to guide our business each day.  We focus not only on our business, but also push each other to make healthy choices and workout. We also started a women's networking group for Chicagoland female professionals.

Since becoming partners, we have not only accelerated our business, but we have improved our lives.  Partners aren't always needed, but again, for some of us it works.

Best of lucking in your real estate investing and thanks for reading!

@Mary Derman Thanks! I thought I was trying to but it sometimes feels like I'm moving backwards. I am working with a realtor who "knows investment properties". I believed him because he owns a few. Well, it's been months and all I get are emails with MLS listings but no real direction of suggestions from him. And when I call him about a property listing he sent me he proceeds to tell me why that one won't work.... Then why send it over to me in the first place? I guess my next action is to find a new realtor. LOL
