No response to purchase offer

What type of follow-up, if any, should i deploy with an agent that did not respond to my purchase offer yesterday?  It was a low offer compared to list price the first day the property was on the market, but I communicated back and forth with the agent yesterday before and after viewing the property. And then again after submitting my purchase offer. The offer expired today with no response from the listing agent.

What should i do? Hold for a few days or weeks and see if the property sits on the market before re-engaging? Or proactively contact the listing agent and request feedback including a potential higher 2nd purchase offer that still meets my return requirements?

@Brian Green   I am not sure if I would want many properties in an area where people would accept a lowball offer on the first day a property was on the market.
