I have no first-hand experience, but have friends with co-op rental properties. Their advice . . . STAY AWAY!
The co-op board will meddle in your every decision and will be in your hair. If you don't mind others having say over how you run your investments, then go for it. If you like your independence, and the freedom to make your own business decisions, then you should probably stay away from co-ops for investment properties.
