using 401k for investing
looking at having to roll over a 401k as its been time. I was looking more into using rolling it into a check book control SEP. Does anyone have any experience investing in this manner that can provide any pointers?

@Keenon Moorman if you are willing to pay the taxes now consider even better alternative:
Instead of taking the distribution and paying taxes + penalties, convert your pre-tax retirement dollars into Roth and invest in trust deeds. Often you can get 10-15% return on your money, all of that will be tax-free at the end. Invest in rentals with your personal savings and use your IRA to diversify in trust deeds, this would be a wise things to do to spread your eggs in a different basket.
