Real Estate v. Index Funds

Hi there,

I am confused as to if RE can give better returns than investing using index funds.

After reading into profits for apartment buildings, it seems to be from 8-11%, although that is around how much successful index funds are doing today, but with more work involved.

What is the appeal of real estate investing you are finding?

Thank you so much,

Logan
