Finding out where New Devlpmnt will take place in my City

Hello everyone this is my first post to BP. My question is how can i find out where and when new development will be taking place in my city. So to better explain i often hear from others that there are plans to create another park over the highway or blocks of houses will be torn down to build luxury apartments and so forth, which of course can influence where to buy because value will increase in these surrounding areas. So where is this information, on the city's website? Maybe meetings? I really have no clue. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone knew some info on this topic
