Pipe burst in Common Area of Condo during Renovation

Johnson Nguyen
Posted

Hi!

I'm currently 2 weeks away from finishing renovation and just got a call from my contractor stating that the common area of my unit had a pipe burst that leaked into my unit and ruined the entire flooring! To make it worse, it appears it may have been sewage water that got it. It's my understanding that this would be filed under the HOA insurance, but I'm curious if this would cover loss of rent, labor associated with renovation, or anything else I can get to recoup work already done. I'm hoping to stay on budget and not have to come out even more for HOA issues.
