Foreclosure Sale at Auction

Hi. I am looking into foreclosure properties at auction.com around SF Bat Area. I see a lot of properties listed but they are not approved for bidding and many are postponed. I am new at auction. Is that normal? Any best practice for bidding? The biggest hurdle for me is without the ability to see what is the condition inside the property.
