What is the End Game

It’s occurred to me that by listening to all the hype put forth about real estate investing by the mentors, gurus, reality TV shows, thinly researched newspaper articles, news reports etc.  that everyone interested in real property investments wants to quit their jobs, sell their businesses, get off the dole or avoid any type of employment by becoming a full time “real estate investor” read “fix n flip”.

Having been in many aspects of commercial and investment real estate for 40 years, I know that just isn’t anywhere close to correct.  Many investors are looking for passive income, others would like to supplement a salary from a job or business they’re quite satisfied with; still others want an inflation hedge.

So I ask, what goal(s) are you wanting to accomplish by utilizing real estate investing?

@Don Konipol  great question.  I wish this was discussed more often.

For me it was freedom. Time freedom.  Freedom from the grind and punching in.  Freedom to succeed or fail by my own merit while helping renters and my community.

I reached the 'end goal' of the investing stage last week.  It took 3 years of purposeful sales and consolidation to turn 93% of my portfolio into tax-efficient, hassle-free income streams.

Now I have a scary amount of time freedom and am revisiting old hobbies, writing and working on getting involved with causes I care about

So the end game for me was setting up income streams while helping others so I can focus on bigger things if I want to.

Chasing more and more dollars has no end.  Discover your end game and what contentment means to you.  Thank you for starting this discussion.
