If we are going into a recession, should I hold off on acquiring?

I syndicate multi family properties.  Newer in the game.  Some investors are hesitant because they think we are on the brink of a recession, which I don't disagree with. In fact, I've noticed many folks have been selling off their portfolios due to the insane prices.

If we are going into a recession, does that make it an unadvisable time to start acquiring apartment buildings? Especially with prices being so high and cap rates low.

Should I wait until prices start creeping down or dive in and just expect lower cap rates like we are seeing these day?

Thanks.
