So just curious about others having crazy experiences-

In 2010 I was looking for my first post-divorce house as a single dude after apartment living for 2 years. I found the perfect house- 4/2, 2000 sq ft, great newer kitchen but the rest of the house was crap. Me being a contractor it was perfect. House was a foreclosure listed at $112k. I offered $90 and got it. My realtor got the super long contract, we filled it out, 2 days later it was rejected for a set of initials in the wrong spot. HUD would not allow us to redo that ONE page and cancelled on me. 5 day looking period, house went back on the market at midnight on day 5. My realtor stayed up to put in my original $90k bid. Next morning I wake up and price dropped from $112 to 72k. We changed my bid to $75. At this point I'm stalking the house, there's people looking.. so we upped to $80k. I won again but for $10k less!
So for my mortgage appraisal, utilities needed to be on. HUD allowed water and electric in my name for 48 hours. You are not allowed to do any work.. yeah well.. my plumber and I spent 8 hours cutting open walls and chasing and fixing leaks. House also had no faucets or light fixtures.
At the end of the day is was craziness but well worth it!! Rehabbed that house as I lived in it the next 5 years, and left closing with $85,000 when I sold it.

What’s your good story?
