Hello, Im looking into moving into a new primary residence and renting my current home. It has carpet in all the bedrooms is carpet a smart option if im going to make this a long term rental?

Another vote for luxury vinyl planks as it's waterproof, unlike carpet. Also comes in a range of finishes (wood, tile, stone, etc.) so you can choose the look you want.
