Cost to demo a house for new construction

How much is a rough estimate to demo an existing house to build new construction?  Existing house of a property we are considering needs so much work I think it would be more beneficial to completely demo and rebuild.  The value of the property is in the location with existing vacant lot asking prices in the same price range as the asking price of the house.  The existing house is approx. 2800 sf and is 2 story.  Is this a $25K event or a $100K event?

According to your profile, you're in Georgia.  Assuming no major environmental concerns (asbestos, lead, etc), and assuming no major permitting or property access issues, you're probably looking at between $10,000 and $30,000.

The large range is based on the fact that you didn't mention the specific location, whether there's a basement with a foundation that needs to be dug out, weather the structure is made of wood, or block/concrete, etc.

The price will also depend on the type of contractor you use, your timeframe and the availability of those types of contractors in your market right now.
