Rehabbing your out of state property
Hi ! I am planning to do most of the rehab (fixer upper) on my own (and be manager). If needed I will hire electrician, plumber etc. The property will be Lehigh Valley or Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and my Agent told me that according the law “If you live more than 30 miles away you need hire GC” (Is it general PA law ?)
I am wondering if or how Building Department is verifying that ? How can I go around it ? I will appreciate any tips, comments, stories.

Lehigh Valley brings back fond memories.....Until it snowed anyway. I am a Texas boy and me and snow don't get along. I got a pretty good education though back in '89. Yankee carpenters really do rock.
I wasn't aware of these back then but a lot of water has crossed under that bridge since then. Here is a thought though. Could you get a DBA in the town you are building in? Here in Texas we only pay a dollar a year for a DBA per county. Depending on the county of course. Then you may have to get a license for the same county. I admit, I know nothing about Lehigh Valley today but it might be worth a shot.
