Neighborhood meeting regarding home build

I am planning to build a s.f. home in the middle of a well established neighborhood. The event will be providing the attendees with information about my project. The meeting is a requirement and is intended to give property owners in the area an opportunity to learn about the proposal that affects them and to try to identify concerns.

I would appreciate to hear about other's experiences with this. If you could do it again, what would you change? What should I expect? How to handle hot heads in public (I know one will be present). Any insight is valuable.
