How can I become a real estate developer?

hello biggerpockets users.

I have a strong interest in becoming a real estate developer. It is absolutely my dream.

I want to develop condominium, multifamily, amd mixed use properties someday.

I am not so sure how I can even come a developer or where to start, I am quite confused on where to began.

Some have suggested that I should earn a MBA or a Bachelors, but school has never been my strong suit. I have a fear that could possibly end my goal to become a developer.

Since there are generally more than one path to become a developer, what path would you suggest? Thanks.

For me it was a natural progression of being a high producing real estate broker.. this allowed me to network with developers who hired me to sell their product.. once in the club. you run with them.. then as you gain capital ( and make no mistake this is the most capital intensive business out there you grow into it.. at least that's how I did it.. and I am really just a small fish.. as my deals have all been for myself or just a few select capital partners..

Large development corps will have millions if not billions behind them and then hire staff etc.

Homebuilders in many markerts are also developers the hat is kind of interchangeable.
