Digging in the basement
I purchased an investment property in Philly that I want to rent in about a year. The basement is about 5 ft and I want to dig it down to 8 ft for a laundry and extra bathroom. Is digging a good idea? Does anyone have any pros that are great at this type of adventure?

Dave Francis Where are the footings for the structure? If they are at or slightly below the 5ft level, you are going to be in for a world of trouble if you dig 3ft below them. You will be removing the stability of the foundation possibly causing the structure to sag or collapse.
