Civil work - General Contractor or Contractors?

Hi everyone - I'm in the development process for a 1-acre 4-home construction project in downtown Greenville, SC. It's a booming market and it seems tough to get the big guys to do civil work on a small project like this, but not sure I want to manage individual contractors for things like utilities, bonding, grading, and road work. Anyone have experience to share on best way to proceed?

Not in your state but you can call your asphalt or concrete ready mix supplier and have him list you 5-10 companies that do horizontal, tell them you need a contractor that has a grader, road roller/compaction equipment, couple of dumptrucks, and asphalt pavers. This grade of contractors will not be cheap but can give you a turn-key price. Here it is a General Engineering class not General Contractor.
