RTA Cabinets for Spec Home

Hello,

I'm in the process of building my first spec home. It is a entry level, starter home. I'm looking at purchasing cabinets from the RTA store. I know that bathroom and kitchens "sell" homes so I don't want to purchase off the shelf cabinets. My thinking is that I can get nice maple cabinets with all the bells and whistles for much less than special ordering. Has anyone used this company before? Any tips and hints to give these rooms the "wow" factor on a budget?

Thanks,

Jen

@Jen Etten I've bought from the rtacabinetstore.com but I understand they have similar products

I've bought from them twice. The first order came within 10 business days. All the normal sized cabinets were fine (including a lazy susan). But the pantry I ordered had a slight crack. I opted to fix it (i.e., my contractors did) instead of shipping it back and waiting for a new one.

The next order. A vanity was missing. I just bought a new one from Lowe's instead.

They are not very good with returns. You'll wait a while (1-3 weeks). If it was your personal home you could probably wait for the return process. If it is an investment property you'd want to just replace or repair yourself. time is money!

All in all I was pleased. The cabinets were great quality (all wood) for a fraction of the price of the local retailers.
