Turning 2 plex into 3 plex

Hello,

So I’m hoping to find some advise to point me in the right direction with a new project I just encountered.

My partner and myself just purchased 2 duplex and would like to convert them into 3 plex. Of course before starting, this sound like a great idea. The entire project is a flip to say the least. We are really unsure on how to go about permits and regulations on electrical and plumbing for the property if we do turn it into a 3 plex.

So my question is....

The number game makes since for it to go from a 2 plex to a 3 plex but is the process worth it? And if it is any pointers for the new guy?

Thanks.

Be sure to contact the city first and see what gets approved before you get started. I am going through a similar process myself. Once your plans get approved, you're free to start your journey with your contractors. Keep us posted and best of luck.
