I just woke up to news that one of my apartment buildings was on the news because of one of the tenants being shot and killed. Anyone had this happen before or any advice?

 Jordan, sorry to hear that.

Unfortunately we get 1 of these every 2-3 years, and just had a homicide last month.  A few things to keep in mind/ be aware of,

*If there are any bodily fluids, there is a special Hazardous Waste clean up that needs to be done and is not cheap, usually a few thousand.

*you may not be given access to the u it for a few weeks given the police may need to keep the unit undisturbed for a period of time.  So you may need/want to file Loss of Rents coverage.

Good luck with it
