Looking for a rental property

Hi all!

I’m looking for some advice on rental properties as this is something I’ve been wanting and saving to do. I’ve been looking to buy a rental property in Temple, TX area but as I’ve been looking I see the the going rate for rent there would be about the same as my mortgage would be.

So my question is how much money should I be looking to NET on a rental for it to make sense?

I know ideally you’d like to NET high but what should I expect as a minimum?

I’m not looking to pay my personal bills with income from the rental just something to have under my belt and so I can get my feet wet to get more.

Thanks.

@Jason Gamio short answer is the more the better :-)

Every investor have their minimum number, but normally you want to get $100 per door profit.
