Buying An Apartment Complex

I'm looking to buy an apartment complex and don't really want one in my area (not much availability). I live in WA state and looking in the mid west region to the south. Is I a good idea to get real estate that is not in driving distance as a first complex?

What size property are you looking at? Large enough to have proper management will help. How often will you be able to visit? Will you have local hands and feet to help? It's possible to do, for sure, and whether it is a good idea has to do with your experience, partners, etc.
