Limit on contractor material charges

Being a consummate do-it-yourselfet and unable to clone myself, I've felt it wise to bring in some contractors on my 20 unit remodel. This is unchartered territory for me, ugh, having faith in people's work ethic, quality and honesty! I've established a charge account at Lowe's and i'm allowed to add contractors to my account for charging materials. My question is...is this a smart thing to do? I'm out of state so I can't really purchase materials as they need them and I also don't want to slow progress. I believe I have the ability to set a dollar limit they can charge before prompting a store associate to call me for approval. If i go this route was considering a $500 limit, which should supply enough drywall, mud, screws, etc. to get them through the drywall repair stage. What do you think????
