submetering vs RUBS on 5 unit building

Hey BP,

Does anyone here have experience in submetering 5 unit townhome style apartment buildings. What'd a ballpark number be in terms of cost of installation. I may end up doing RUBS but in case I want to sell units individually, I thought I would ask if it's feasible or cost-prohibitive.

Thanks!

Hi Sal,

Find out how much it will cost to install separate water meters for reach unit.  If the cost is reasonable, that is the easiest way.  Tenants get charge directly from water company.  The alternative is RUBS, look into NWP for more info.  You may get pushback if you try to bill back, but if there are meters, the tenants have no one to complain to.

RUBS works if your market is employing it.
