Area Per Unit- Chicago

Has anyone had success getting a variance on area per unit with the city of Chicago?  e.g. the zoning ordinance requires a lot area of 1000 sf per unit and you go in with 800 sf per unit?  Is this a plausible scenario, or a non starter?  Any help is appreciated.

@Mario Rosado @Jeff Burdick @Lumi Ispas I agree with Lumi, if you get an architect familiar with the City, they should be able to give you an idea if the property is viable. After that, meet with the local Alderman.
