Your syndication investment experience

Cameron Miller
Posted

Hi Folks-

I’m just starting out in RE and have a question about syndications: are there multi family syndications you have invested in and we’re happy with? And equally important, any that you were disappointed with?

Thank you so much for helping out.

The multifamily syndication model, is a very lucrative way to scale your investment portfolio, simply due to the fact that you, as the GP/operator, are able to leverage other peoples money (LP's) to buy bigger deals! However, like @Jim Pfeifer mentioned, it is illiquid for at least 5-10 years, depending on the hold time of the project. Another point to consider is knowing the track record of the operators, and the KP (key principle) on the deal. I would definitely recommend reading the book by Brian Burke. I would also recommend listening to The Multifamily Wealth Podcast, Episode # 139. He shares some great points on how passive investors should approach the syndication deals.

I myself am an active syndicator, focusing in the Kansas City market (Kansas, and MO). I'd love to connect and help point you in the right direction!
