Short Sales from MLS

After pouring over pages and pages of posts today in the short sale forum it looks like most people shy away from short sales on the MLS.

Although I can understand some of the reasons why people stay away from these, I am hoping to be able to do these once in a while.

I do have 3 currently under contract. In 2 of these I am working with a buyers agent. The other one I am working with the sellers agent.

Working like this is there any room for negotiation or am I at the mercy of the listing agent?

Am I able to get a copy of the BPO? Can I submit my own comps and property condition report to justify my offer?

I was countered (verbal) by the bank on one of these and their counter was just a little too high for me to accept. I am waiting for the hard copy of the counter offer so I can re-counter and hopefully meet in the middle.

Any advice?
