How do you know if you're bidding on 1st lien or 2nd?

I am heading to a Foreclosure Auction next week and getting a title search done now by my title company. However, I have read stories on here of people accidentally bidding on a 2nd mortgage instead of a first. So my question is, how do you know that you are bidding on the first mortgage and not the property tax bill, water bill, etc?
