First time home buyer/investor

How's it going BP. I have been in BP for about a month now, and still having a hard time picking things up. So I'm just starting out haven't bought my first house yet but I'm in the process of looking. My plan is to house hack a multi-family to rent out and live in one of the units. There is a short sale multi family that I am going to see in a few days. My question is, it is a good idea for a first time investor to buy a short sale multi family home, and what do I need to keep my eyes on when checking out a short sale property? And what are the pros and cons for short sales?
