TOWN HALL RECORDS
HELLO EVERYONE:
does any one have an idea what kind of information you can get from a city hall public records.
we have a REO property in attorney review, we like to know like what kind of updates has been done on this property, the banks don't talk.
First time buyers. my lawyer says the bank don't do any disclosure, is this righ? any other info on this kind of deals will be appreciated.

Banks do not do any disclosure. This is frustrating, for sure, but think of it from their side - they don't know what has been done, and figuring it out can be costly and time consuming.
My local building department was very helpful, showing me what had been previously approved through the city, and I could compare to what was actually in place. Turns out that large addition in the back was unpermitted. You have to ask specific questions in order to get a specific answer, but the department that grants building permits should be able to at least send you in the right direction.
