Foreclosure/REO Closing Periods-- Are there any methods to expediting closing?

Are there any strategies that can be employed to close quicker on foreclosure/REO properties (relationships with banks, research to determine how quickly a property will close such as investigating any potential title issues in land records, etc.)?

My concern is having my money tied up waiting for a deal to close while missing other deals because my capital is on standby (plus, the market may change!).
