Advice for problem with neighbour
Hi There,
I own a commercial property in Ontario, Ca. On May 30th I received an email, with no introduction, no photos, no invoice, from the residential property owner who lives behind my property telling me that she is replacing the fence between our properties because of damage due to a wind storm and previous damage done from clients of my tenant, and I have to pay 700$ before the 9th of June.
Needless to say, I was flabbergasted. Does anyone have any advice for me how to handle this reasonably? Your advice is much appreciated.
Thanks!

No legal advice, not a lawyer, but I would let her know, in writing so a record of it, that if she'd like to discuss it with you, please make an appointment and bring all documentation, or at least send you all documentation -- before and after pictures, any evidence of tenant damage, etc., but that you can make no determination until you have all the facts. Then at the meeting or if she refuses meeting, let her know you would prefer to discuss it directly with her insurance company as if it was wind storm damage, it should probably be an insurance claim.
