Is it safe to invest in Hamilton, OH

We are looking at purchasing a commercial property in Hamilton. How is that place to invest in? Crime shows as quite high in that area. Population is not much so I wanted to ask here so that someone with experience either living or investing in Hamilton could provide insight into retail market and the area in general. Would also appreciate if you can provide contact of some good lender in that area.
