Land with no owner and no tax bill
I have Identified a piece of land with no owner. The city has no one to send the tax bill to. And the city does not own it. The city says property like this they usually do not pursue a tax foreclosure either. So essentially the land is just sitting there not collecting taxes. I have researched the title all the way back to the 1800s. It appears the lot was never deeded out from the original grantors deed. However all the surrounding parcels have a chain of title. I have done some extensive research to see if any of the descendants of the original grantor are alive. I could not find any. I have been using ancestry.com and some skip tracing software. Either way I know in order to get this property the estate will have to go through probate. However if there are no descendants or lien holders to initiate probate proceedings, is it possible for an interested third party such as myself to do so?
Thank you
