Abandoned property - Next step suggestions

Hello, Everyone! I'm new to the forum and to the whole real estate game. I was very interested in wholesaling...Finding a property, checking for tall grass, boarded windows, etc. So, I found a property and as opposed to wholesaling, I'd love to purchase and fix it myself due to it being in my childhood neighborhood. To cut to the chase, the owner is now deceased, her husband is still with us but I can not find anything beyond what whitepages and truthfinder have supplied (not much). He is up in age and neighbors say he was put into a senior center but have no idea which one. Nor can I locate any relatives. Are there any other steps I can take? None of the phone numbers are in service, the house is in decline and has fallen victim to vandalism and drug use. I'd hate to see my old stomping grounds, childhood neighborhood and what can potentially change the way this block is viewed to slip out of the hands of someone who cares. Please help, Thanks!

You can check the County Probate Office for a file of the wife if there is one. You can also find out her date of death and search for her obituary. if she had children they should be mentioned there. Good luck.
