How to ask for repair funds

What is the best way to ask for repair costs at closing? I basically want the seller to give back 1% towards repair costs at closing. I don’t want the money to go into escrow, I would just like 1% no strings attached. If anyone has advice I would appreciate it.

I didn’t plan to request repairs but after the inspection more items were found than I had budgeted for. I don’t want to lose the deal but would like to ask for repair costs.
