Rental market in Mid-Michigan

I am a So Cal resident and first-time investor looking to invest in some SFHs and/or MFHs as rental properties using the BRRRR method and I'm curious if anyone has experience in the Mid-Michigan area? Cities like Saginaw, Bay City, and Midland seem to have an affordable housing market that is more reliable/safe than the Detroit area along with a decent job market to support it. Another bonus is I have some family in the Midland area that could help scope out any investment opportunities since I'm out of state.

Appreciate any advice! Thanks!

Paul did you end up buying in MI? How did it turn out? I live in FL and am looking for something more affordable to invest in but know nothing about MI or its market!
