Airbnb: Viable Investments?

I'm just wondering if anyone out there owns properties that they use for short term rentals with sites like Airbnb, and if those properties produce significant cash flow. I have heard from some that they can use Airbnb to get nearly triple what they would get in a month from a conventional long term rental, but I'm sure this has a much higher variance depending on your market and is obviously less consistent.
