Bought a MFH occupied with a section 8 tenant and...

...The seller did not disclose. Property is in Texas.

Was he required to?

If yes, what are my recourses?

@David Campbell It would most likely be in the rent roll. My property manager shows the checks as they come in. One would be from the government agency and one from the tenant. Are you opposed to guaranteed money? The tenants can lose their ability to stay on the program and I believe they can't get back on for 2  years if they violate any lease terms. There should have been a contract with section 8. Did you have an estoppel certificate saying that the rents and deposits are correct and no other verbal terms are in effect. I am not a lawyer but I don't believe you have any recourse.  There is no harm not disclosing the tenant was section 8. Would you be opposed if someone had a cosigner for the property?
